AMBASSADORS Our Ambassadors are a unique group of supporters, who through their vision and engagement, support Theatre Works’ artistic endeavor. Each Ambassador plays a significant role in promoting Theatre Works’ ambition to foster artist development and enrich communities through performance. PROFESSOR FIONA STANLEY AC Australian of the Year (2003), Professor Fiona Stanley is an Australian epidemiologist noted for her public health work. Between 1990 and 2011 she was the founding director of the Telethon Institute. In 2014, phase one of the Fiona Stanley Hospital was opened in her honour in Perth, Western Australia. Fiona advocates for Theatre Works’ Community Connect and Access programs which connect and strengthen communities. ‘I am so inspired to have the opportunity to work with John Sheedy, and for what he will bring to Theatre Works and Melbourne’s independent theatre scene. Crucial to my involvement with Theatre Works is John’s focus on audiences and building relationships with the community. I see this as integral to my role as Ambassador; to advocate for the connection live theatre offers to create healthier communities.’ – Professor Fiona Stanley AC RACHEL GRIFFITHS Rachel Griffiths is an Australian actress and director, popularly known for her role in the film Muriel’s Wedding and US television drama Six Feet Under. Rachel has had an extensive career in film and television receiving a Golden Globe Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and three Australian Film Institute Awards. Rachel is a St Kilda local and champion for Theatre Works within the performing arts industry.
